It was an interesting evening for sure! We unexpectedly met Newt Gingrich and his wife! I had heard about this man, but I knew very little. I knew he was at one time the Speaker of the House.
I do not think we can even imagine the kind of stress our politicians endure on a daily basis. Whether we agree with them or not on policy, whether they make good or bad personal choices, I think we can all agree that overall, they work very hard. They deserve the respect that comes with the “office.”
Please forgive the low quality photos, the helper taking photos had trouble getting my camera phone to work properly. These were the clearest photos we were able to attain.
I need to thank them for being there tonight! If you every read this post, (doubtful, but not entirely impossible…), please know, it was a pleasure to meet you both! I thoroughly embarrassed myself by stumbling over my words. You were so gracious and kind. You smiled and asked questions of us and answered our questions kindly. Mr. Gingrich did mention that maybe his book was not for children…even teens. So, I am interested to peruse this book of his, because I have one teen that she may find a political thriller to be very intriguing. Mrs. Gingrich however has specifically written her books for children! I love what I have read so far in her Christmas in America as Ellis the Elephant travels in History to learn more about Christmas and American history! This particular book in the series includes the Apollo 8 astronauts…so even our boys will love it!
This unexpected meeting has caused me to do some studying. Mr. Gingrich has now authored quite a few books. Many of these books seem to have wonderful historical content. See a listing of the books he has written here! I am now looking forward to finding these and reading them! Some are fictional, such as this one that I now own! So, if you get a chance, read through this bit of information at Wikipedia and enjoy!
If you want to find out more about them and their books, check out this link for more information! Book signings in Houston, or Minnetonka, MN coming up soon! READ here his response to this past Thursday, (October 30, 2015) debate!
I personally enjoyed the thought that he met and talked with President Ronald Reagan, a man I was excited to call my President when I was just a child! Maybe you will read something that will amaze you! Maybe you will learn something you did not know. Mr. and Mrs. Gingrich, I wish you well! We will be praying for His goodness in your lives. Politicians all very much need our prayers for the major decisions they are making every day. They also need our prayers after they leave office as they can still be influential in our country! I liked this quote by Mr. Gingrich,
“Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.”
Meeting his wife was a pleasure as well. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book she has written! She let me know that this is book 4 in a series she has written. They all follow historical events as well! I don’t know about you, but I LOVE to have more resources to help my kids learn and remember History. Books I think any home in America would enjoy and want to have! Great Christmas gift ideas for sure! Check out Christmas in America! Here, on Amazon!
So, the REAL reason I took the kids to Barnes and Noble tonight, was, to get them tickets to meet Rosanna Pansino….who is selling this GREAT fun book you can find more information about here:
